UK FOOTBALL | Johnson earns SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

LEXINGTON — Defensive tackle Cory Johnson had a career game in Kentucky’s 21-13 victory over No. 25 Missouri, and the SEC has awarded him the Defensive Lineman of the Week award for his stellar performance.

The 6-3, 300-pound senior recorded a career-best 11 tackles against the Tigers, helping Kentucky hold Missouri to just 13 points en route to earning its first win over a ranked opponent since 2010.

Johnson is the second Wildcat to receive a weekly honor form the league office this season after cornerback Chris Westry nabbed SEC Freshman of the Week following Kentucky’s 26-22 road victory at South Carolina on September 12th.

Behind his superb Saturday performance, Johnson now leads all UK defensive linemen with 18 tackles on the season, including one sack and a blocked field goal.

Kentucky returns to action on Saturday for an in-state tilt against Eastern Kentucky at 7:30 p.m. ET at Commonwealth Stadium. The game will be televised on the SEC Network Alternate and broadcast live on the UK Sports Radio Network.
