UK FOOTBALL | Is Vanderbilt a "must-win" game to go bowling?

NASHVILLE, TN — A Week 11 matchup with Vanderbilt (3-6, 1-4 SEC) looked like an easy win for the Kentucky Wildcats (4-5, 2-4 SEC) in the preseason. But, oh, how things have changed.
UK’s four-game losing streak combined with Commodores suddenly much-improved defense has made Saturday’s 4:00 p.m. ET matchup in Nashville anything but an automatic victory for the Wildcats.
Adding to the storyline its Kentucky’s quest to become bowl eligible for the first time in five years. A win in Nashville would get the Wildcats to five wins — one short of qualifying for the postseason with a home game against cupcake Charlotte already on the schedule for next week.
A loss, however, would force UK to have to win its final two games to reach bowl eligibility, needing to beat both Charlotte archrival Louisville at home in the regular season finale on Nov. 28.
Not impossible, but a win today vs. Vanderbilt would make the path to the postseason all but guaranteed.
KSTV discussed the importance of the Vanderbilt matchup on Friday’s show, explaining if it’s a “must-win” game for the Wildcats and their postseason hopes:
