Kentucky, playing without Sacha Killeya-Jones, Mychael Mulder and De’Aaron Fox, needed overtime to hold off the Georgia Bulldogs Tuesday night in Rupp Arena.

After falling behind 12-0 to start the game the Wildcats scrambled to knot the score up at 29 at the half. Malik Monk, who had only one field goal and 6 total points after the first half put the team on his back in the second half as UK started to pull away.

Kentucky built a lead as large as 8 points before going on a scoring draught that saw Georgia take the lead in the waning minutes of regulation
Monk finished the game with 37 points but none were bigger than the basket he scored with 10 seconds to go to tie the score up and send the game to overtime.

The Cats wasted little time jumping out on the Bulldogs in the extra frame scoring the first five points on a layup and Monk 3 pointer. Isaiah Briscoe flirted with his second triple-double of the season finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. Bam Adebayo, who sat out most of the first half with foul trouble, finished with 12 points and 5 rebounds as UK defeated Georgia 90-81 and improved to 18-4, 8-1 SEC.

The road doesn’t get any easier from here for UK. The Wildcats head to Gainesville for a Saturday showdown against the Gators. Game time is set for 8:15pm
