UK BASKETBALL | UK Beats LSU 94-77 on Senior Day

03/05/2016 05:05 PM

Big Blue Nation said goodbye to Alex Poythress today as Kentucky closed out the regular season with a 94-77 shellacking of LSU.

Poythress, playing for the final time at Rupp Arena as a Wildcat, had 12 pts and 3 boards. For the second straight game freshman Skal Labissiere has been a beast on the court. He finished the day with 18 pts, 9 rebounds and 6 blocks.

The game was nip and tuck early as Kentucky struggled with mistakes that led to easy buckets by the Tigers before a jumper by Skal started a 21-11 run to close the first half. Kentucky would never trail again.

Jamal Murray finished with a team high 22 points and junior Marcus Lee had 12 points and 10 rebounds.

With the victory Kentucky locks up a share of the regular season SEC Title. Both UK and Texas A&M finish the regular season with a 13-5 conference record. Due to A&M holding the tie breaker with a victory over UK, Kentucky will be the 2 seed in the SEC Tournament that starts next week in Nashville. Kentucky will play on Friday night

Odds and Ends

Derek Willis’ 3 pointer in the first half extended UK’s record for most consecutive games with a made 3 pointer to 970.

Ulis’ 14 assists today was good enough for 3rd place on the UK single game assist record, tying him with Dirk Minnifield, Dicky Beal and John Wall. The record for most assists by a Wildcat in a single game is 16, also held by Wall.

Those 14 assists by Tyler also give him 221 for the season, just 20 shy of the single season record of 241 held by John Wall.
