LEXINGTON — An already loaded roster for the Kentucky Wildcats in 2015-16 just became even more talented.
Tai Wynyard — a 4-star power forward from Auckland, New Zealand — has enrolled early for the spring semester at UK and is working on his student visa application to sign with the Wildcats this month, according to a report from CatsPause.com.
Wynyard (6-10, 263 pounds) verbally committed to Kentucky over Texas and Villanova last January and was originally a member of the UK’s 2016 recruiting class.
Once his student visa paperwork is approved, Wynyard would become eligible to join the Wildcats this season, providing much-needed depth to Kentucky’s talented, but thin, frontcourt.
The November early signing period runs from Nov. 11-18.
Wynyard, who last played for Rangitoto College, competed for the World Select Team at the Nike Hoop Summit in April and received MVP honors at the 3-on-3 World Championships in Hungary in June, leading New Zealand to the gold medal.
