The Kentucky Wildcats, fresh off of their 31st SEC tournament championship, found out Sunday night that they are headed to Boise, ID to face the Davidson Wildcats on Thursday. Kentucky’s bracket includes a possible second round match-up with the Arizona Wildcats and a Sweet 16 match-up with the tournament number one overall seed Virginia Cavaliers should UK make it through the tournament’s first weekend.

Kentucky is one of eight SEC teams (a conference record) to accept bids to the NCAA tournament. Joining UK are Tennessee, Auburn, Texas A&M, Missouri, Arkansas, Alabama and Florida.

UK enters the NCAA Tournament riding a three game win streak after a long weekend in St Louis saw them defeat Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee in back to back to back days to capture the 2018 tournament title.

Freshman guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the SEC Tournament’s most valuable player having averaged 21 points, 5.o rebounds, 6.7 assists and 1.7 steals for the Wildcats. This marks the third straight year that a UK point guard has taken home the MVP hardware. Tyler Ulis won in 2016 and De’Aaron Fox in 2017. Willie Cauley-Stein was the 2015 SEC Tournament MVP.
