UK BASKETBALL | Hot Shooting Helps Cats Advance to SEC Semifinals

UK opened tournament play with a convincing win over Alabama, cruising to a 85-59 victory at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
This was the consummate team win for Kentucky as 8 Wildcats made their way into the scoring column. UK advances to the semifinals tomorrow afternoon where they will face the winner of the Georgia/South Carolina game played later tonight.
The Wildcats finished with a season high 13 makes from beyond the arc, including 4 by senior Alex Poythress. AP finished with 20 points and 7 rebounds and “…played outstanding!” according to Head Coach John Calipari.
Jamal Murray finished with a game-high 23 points and Tyler Ulis added 17 pts and 5 assists in the victory.

With tonight’s win UK improves to 12-2 in SEC Tournament games held at Bridgestone (Formerly GEC) Arena. Their losses coming in S Carolina in 2006 and Vanderbilt in 2013
Tyler Ulis finished with 5 assists giving him 226 for the season. Which leaves him just 15 shy of John Wall’s season record of 241.
Jamal Murray hit a three pointer tonight, giving him at least one in 32 consecutive games, tying him with Travis Ford for second place. Kentucky great Tony Delk holds the record at 34 consecutive games.
After tonight’s game Jamal Murray has scored 642 points this season. Just 15 points behind The freshman scoring record which currently held by Brandon Knight who finished with 657 points in 2010-2011.
And finally Jamal also has his sights set on the 3 pointer record as well. Tonight’s total gives him 104 for the season moving him past Travis Ford into second place on the UK all time list only 13 behind Jodie Meeks’ 117 makes back in 2008-2009.
