UK BASKETBALL | Fast Cats Too Much For Duke; Roll To Victory

11/17/2015 09:50 PM

The new-look Kentucky Wildcats, featuring a 3 guard lineup for most of the night, had their coming out party as they toppled 5th ranked Duke in the first game of the Champions Classic in Chicago.

Tyler Ulis played his most complete game as a Wildcat. He led all scorers with 18 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Ulis was able to throw over the Duke defense for easy baskets time and time again including this one to Junior Marcus Lee, who flushed it down for 2 of his 10 points. Lee finished with 10 rebounds to record his first double double of the season

Jamal Murray chipped in with 16 and running mate Isaiah Briscoe added 12

Kentucky’s fast pace seemed to frustrate the Blue Devils most of the night as the Cats turned Duke over 15 times and finished with 18 fast break points.

Duke, which trailed by 6 at the half, cut the lead to 3 early in the 2nd but could get no closer as Kentucky steadily pulled away for as 74-63 victory

The Cats were not without their issues. Freshman Skal Labissiere spent the biggest portion of the first half on the bench in foul trouble. He finished the game with 7 points before fouling out midway through the 2nd half.

The Wildcats return home for a matchup with Wright State this Friday. Tip is scheduled for 8pm
