UK BASKETBALL | Capacity reached for Big Blue Madness campout

09/30/2015 11:15 AM

LEXINGTON — Within just a few hours of the start of the Big Blue Madness campout, camping space has reached full capacity, and control cards for free tickets are no longer available.

The annual campout officially began at 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning as Kentucky basketball fans flooded the open space around Memorial Coliseum to secure places in line to receive tickets to the Wildcats first open scrimmage of the 2015-16 season. By 9:00 a.m., approximately 585 tents were already in place and capacity was full.

Construction around the University of Kentucky campus limited space for this year’s campout, and in a press release, UK Athletics encouraged fans who weren’t able to find a spot to instead use to acquire tickets to the event.

Tickets to the 2015 Big Blue Madness are free again this year, and the event will feature introductions of both the men’s and women’s basketball teams, practice drills, videos, and more.

Ticket distribution will take place on Friday, October 2 at 10:00 p.m. at the Memorial Coliseum ticket windows, following the 7:00 p.m. home UK volleyball match vs. Mississippi State.

Big Blue Madness will be held at Rupp Arena on Friday, October 16. Times and broadcast information will be released at a later date.
