UK BASKETBALL | #5 UK wins 85-69 over #24 South Carolina

The Wildcats took an early 17 point lead over South Carolina but lost starting PG De’aaron Fox to an ankle injury halfway through the first half, that’s when Frank Martin’s team gathered themselves to pull within 3 at 30-27. Senior Dominique Hawkins steadied the ship for the Wildcats after taking over at point guard and the Wildcats took a 9 point lead into the half at 47-38. Hawkins finished the night with 5 points, 7 assists while drawing multiple charges on South Carolina.
UK got another quality game from Derek Willis and Wenyen Gabriel with both combining for 23 points and 12 rebounds which the Wildcats needed with the loss of Fox. Malik Monk led UK in scoring with 27, while Bam Adebayo had 18 points, shooting 5-6 from the field and 8-12 at the free throw line.
Kentucky improves to 17-2 and 7-0 in the SEC.
Kentucky will travel to Knoxville to take on Tennessee this Tuesday night.
