UK Baseball: Evan White set to play on USA Collegiate Team

Kentucky first basemen Evan White has accepted an invitation to play for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team, according to a press release from UK Athletics. The team will first travel to Taiwan in early July to take on the Chinese Taipei team. Then they will head to Japan and Cuba to face teams from those areas.

“The opportunity to represent the United States is awesome and it will be exciting to play with some of the best players in America,” White said.

White is hitting .376 on the season with 15 doubles, three triples, five home runs, 40 RBI, 44 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. He is the leader in all of those categories except for home runs for the Wildcats. He was named second-team All-SEC.

Head coach Gary Henderson was the pitching coach for the Collegiate National Team in 2015. White will be the fourth Kentucky player or coach in the last five years to participate with the Collegiate National Team.
