Alabama had the answer for Kentucky’s bats on Sunday as the Crimson Tide took the rubber match with a 2-1 victory at Cliff Hagan Stadium. Kentucky (22-9, 8-4) compiled 18 hits in the first two games of the series but could only manage 1 run on 5 hits in the finale as Alabama’s Nick Eicholtz baffled UK for most of the afternoon.

Senior Kyle Cody tossed a gem for the Cats allowing just one earned run in 7.1 innings. Cody gave up 5 hits and struck out 3. Despite Sunday’s loss The Wildcats did win their fourth straight series since starting conference play.

Kentucky now turns their attention to Louisville as the seventh ranked Cardinals make their way to Lexington. First pitch is scheduled for 6:30p Wednesday. UK was scheduled to play EKU Tuesday night but that game has been cancelled due to inclement weather. No make-up date has been announced yet.
