LEXINGTON — Just two days before the start of fall camp, the University of Kentucky football team confirmed two big additions from the junior college ranks will join the Wildcats for the 2015 season.

Alvonte Bell and Courtney Miggins are both 3-star defensive linemen at Pearl River City Community College (Mississippi) and have completed the necessary coursework to enroll at Kentucky this fall.

The JUCO teammates are a huge addition — literally and figuratively — to UK’s defensive line that lost stars Alvin “Bud” Dupree and Za’Darius Smith to the 2015 NFL Draft.

Bell (6-5, 260 pounds) actually signed with Kentucky out of high school in 2013, but a broken leg and academics caused him to take the JUCO route for two seasons before returning to sign with Kentucky’s 2015 class in February.

Rivals.com ranked the Florida native as the No. 24 weakside defensive end in the country in 2013, and 247Sports currently lists him as the No. 14 weakside defensive end in the JUCO ranks.

Miggins (6-5, 285 pounds) spent one season at Pearl City CC, splitting time between the defensive tackle and strongside defensive end positions. 247Sports ranks the Georgia native as the No. 8 JUCO defensive tackle in the country.

KSTV discussed the late additions of Bell and Miggins on Tuesday’s show, explaining how their commitments will go a long way in helping secure Kentucky’s defensive line depth this season.
