It was much closer than most Kentucky’s games. Wildcat fans even felt a little anxious in the second half, but in the end tonight’s SEC/Big 12 challenge against Texas, ended the same way as all the other Wildcat games this season, with a UK win. Cats Center Willie Cauley-Stein had a game high 21 points and 12 rebounds, as Number one Kentucky held on to beat 6th ranked Texas 63-51. Kentucky only had a five point lead (56-51) with 1:44 remaining. However UK finished on a 7-0 run as the Wildcats improved to 8-0 on the season. Texas loses it’s first game of the season to fall to 7-1.
Dakari Johnson and Karl-Anthony Towns were the other Wildcats to finish in double figures, scoring 11 and 10 points respectively. Jonathan Holmes was the leading Longhorn scorer, as he put in 14. Kentucky does not have much time to rest and relax. The Wildcats host in-state neighbor Eastern Kentucky Sunday afternoon. The 6pm game will be televised on the SEC Network.
