The Pressure on Mark Stoops Heading into Year Five

08/29/2017 05:09 PM

As Mark Stoops enters his fifth season at Kentucky, his comfort level with the program is at an all-time high.

“Definitely,” Stoops said when asked if he feels more comfortable entering year five. “I felt it today for the first time because – the things that are necessary, that you know, all the things you have to do as a head coach and the fundraising and the recruiting, just everything, you’re getting pulled in a lot of different directions.”

Part of what gives Mark Stoops confidence heading into the season is his new defensive coordinator, Matt House.

“I felt like this year it was a benefit in a way because of the coaching change on defense with starting over. Even though the guys were in place and Matt was an in-house promotion, it was nice to kind of strip it all down and start over again.”

Stoops has a 19-30 record through four seasons at Kentucky. Expectations for Mark Stoops and the team have been raised because of last season’s success.

Bradley McKee and Mark Krebs join TJ Beisner to discuss the pressure that Mark Stoops faces heading into the season.
