Tennessee Steamrolls Kentucky 88-58
02/16/2013 02:20 PM
Tennessee scored 50 points in the first half and didn’t let up in the second. The Volunteers went on to win 88-58 over the Wildcats. This was only the fifth loss by 30 points by a Kentucky team since 1950.
Kentucky struggled through the game shooting and ended the game shooting only 36 percent. On the other hand, Tennessee was on fire, shooting 58 percent and perfect from the three point line.
Within 22 seconds, Alex Poythress and Willie Cauley-Stein fouled out halfway through the second half. Ryan Harrow continued his Houdini impression, contributing one turnover and fouling out with four minutes left in the game.
Jarrod Polson and Kyle Wiltjer started the game in place of Ryan Harrow and Alex Poythress. The revolving door of substitutes didn’t do much to stem Tennessee’s momentum for the first 20 minutes of the game.
In the first half, Kentucky struggled on both ends of the court. The Wildcats only made a third of their shots, while giving up 50 points to the Volunteers, and Kentucky turned the ball over ten times.
