Stoops: Donte Rumph Injured, May Require Surgery
03/27/2013 11:20 AM
Mark Stoops announced today that defensive tackle Donte Rumph was injured during Monday’s practice. Rumph was still being evaluated, but the injury looked fairly significant, according to Stoops, and may require surgery. Stoops called this a big loss for the team considering Rumph was “the most consistent player we had going on defense.”
In the 2012 season, Rumph had 36 tackles and four sacks. Over his career at UK, he started 18 games for the Wildcats. The 6’3” DT started all 11 games last season and was named SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week in the win over Samford. During that game, he made five tackles, including a QB sack that caused a fumble recovered for a touchdown.
Get better soon, Donte! The Wildcats need you.
