Stephen Johnson named to Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List

Senior quarterback Stephen Johnson has been named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, it was announced Wednesday.

Johnson led Kentucky to a 5-4 record as a starter last season after taking over for Drew Barker in the third game of the season. He threw for 2,037 yards and 13 touchdowns, while rushing for 327 yards and three scores.

Johnson’s most memorable game of last season was when he threw for 338 yards and three touchdowns as Kentucky upset then No. 11 ranked Louisville to reclaim the Governor’s Cup trophy.

The Unitas Golden Arm Award is awarded based on player’s performance on and off the field. In order to qualify for the award, players must be a college senior or fourth-year junior on schedule to graduate with their class. The winner will be announced on Friday, December 8.
