The SEC released its preseason coaches All-SEC teams Wednesday afternoon. Six Wildcats received the preseason recognition.

Junior linebackers Jordan Jones and Denzil Ware were named second-team defense. Junior tight end CJ Conrad and sophomore running back Benny Snell were named third-team offense, while junior safety Mike Edwards was named third-team defense and senior kicker Austin MacGinnis named third-team special teams.

Jordan Jones was first team All-SEC defense in 2016 after finishing third in the conference in total tackles (109) and first in solo tackles per game (5.7). Denzil Ware is one of Kentucky’s top returning pass rushers. He was second on the team in total sacks (5.5) and tackles for loss (12) in 2016.

CJ Conrad was Kentucky’s fourth leading receiver in 2016. He caught 14 balls for 262 yards and four touchdowns. Benny Snell had a historic freshman season, setting six Kentucky freshman records, including most rushing touchdowns in a game (4), most rushing yards by a freshman (1,091) and most rushing touchdowns by a freshman (13).

Mike Edwards was second on the team and led all SEC defensive backs in total tackles with 100 in 2016. His 7.7 tackles per game ranked second on the team and seventh in the SEC.

Kicker Austin MacGinnis needs just 49 points to break Kentucky’s scoring record this season. MacGinnis hit 16-of-19 field goals in 2016, including game-winners against Mississippi State and No. 11 Louisville.
