THE CLASSROOM — On this day in 1994, the University of Kentucky basketball team landed sophomore transfer Derek Anderson from Ohio State University.

“D.A.” was a key component to the Wildcats’ run to the 1996 NCAA championship, the team Big Blue Nation remembers as “The Untouchables.”

In the 55 games he played for UK, Anderson averaged 12 points, 4 rebounds, and three assists while shooting 50% from the field and 40% from behind the three-point line.

The Cleveland Cavaliers selected Anderson with the No. 13 overall pick in the 1997 NBA Draft. He played for seven different teams during his 11-year pro career, culminating in an NBA title with the Miami Heat in 2006.
