Regardless of competing at home, SEC Championship will be tough for UK Track and Field

The SEC Track and Field Championships got underway Thursday at the University of Kentucky. Despite being the host of the event and thus having “home-track-and-field” advantage, the Cats are expecting a tough task ahead.
On the men’s side, UK is ranked 19th in the country in track and field, but that’s only good enough for 8th in the SEC. The women fair better at 6th in the NCAA, but still fall to 4th in conference.
Head coach Edrick Floreal is hoping that a sense of comfort with the environment will give his Cats an edge, but he knows it’ll be an uphill battle.
