The Kentucky baseball team will live to see at least one more day, but the Cats didn’t make it drama-free. Kent State took a 2-0 lead after a RBI single in the first inning, and that’s where the score would stay until the top of the ninth.
An A.J. Reed double would score Max Kuhn, and UK was finally on the scoreboard. Thomas Bernal followed it up with a double that scored two more. Then Matt Reida drove in a fourth run, giving the Cats a 4-2 lead.
Reed returned to the mound for the bottom of the ninth and finished off an outstanding complete game performance.
UK now advances to Sunday, where they’ll play the loser of the Louisville/Kansas game.
