UK football recruits ready to "silence the haters," win a championship

LEXINGTON — The Kentucky football team has been on the rise since head coach Mark Stoops took over the program two years ago.

After a 2-10 debut campaign in 2013, Stoops got the Wildcats out to an electric 5-1 start in 2014 before losing their final six decisions to finish 5-7 — missing out on a bowl bid by just one victory.

One of the biggest factors behind the improvement has been a pair of highly-ranked recruiting classes, and two of Stoops’ top 2016 commits took to social media this week to defend the program and, quote, “silence all the haters.”

After rumors surfaced that he and other UK recruits would be switching to other schools, 2016 four-star offensive lineman Drake Jackson posted the following to his Twitter account on Tuesday:

Fellow 2016 four-star OL recruit Landon Young backed up Jackson, posting a similar message to his own Twitter account, too.

KSTV discussed the recruits’ comments on Wednesday’s show, explaining why their passion and competitiveness are exactly what UK needs to finish transitioning into a winning program.
