Kentucky snapped a four-game losing skid with a 38-14 win over Jacksonville State Saturday. The much-needed victory gives the Cats some positive momentum heading into Saturday night’s home game with Mississippi State, a team that is 0 and 4 in the conference. After the game, coach Joker Phillips discussed how the win helps the mindset of both the players and the coaches going into the second half of the season.
Phillips also discussed the list of things his team must improve on if they want to move closer to a bowl game.
Coshik Williams stepped up with a career-high 22 carries and 148 rushing yards. With injuries in the backfield, Williams became the primary ball carrier after sophomore Raymond Sanders left in the first quarter with an ankle injury. Williams said he didin’t find out how strong his performance was until late in the game.
UK defensive coordinator Rick Minter says his players looked like they were having a lot of fun on the field, especially as the game progressed. And Minter says he’s all for it.
