NIT Draw: Calipari Heading Home To Face Robert Morris

03/17/2013 07:56 PM

John Calipari isn’t headed to the NCAA Tournament, but he is headed home. The Cats have been tabbed as the #1 overall seed in the NIT Tournament and will play Robert Morris from Moon Township, Pennsylvania – Calipari’s birthplace. The home team traditionally hosts games in the NIT’s first two rounds, but UK will be forced to Pittsburgh because they’re responsible for staffing the NCAA Tournament in Rupp Arena. There is not adequate personnel to also staff Memorial Coliseum.

The Colonials finished the season at 23-10 and won the Northeastern Conference’s regular season title before falling to Mount St. Mary’s in the semifinals of the conference tournament.

UK and Robert Morris will do battle at 7:30pm Eastern Tuesday night. Be sure to watch KSTV Monday for all of the latest news and a breakdown of UK’s opening round opponent.
