UK Athletic Director Mitch Barnhart formally introduced Nick Mingione as the new Kentucky Men’s Baseball head coach today. During the press conference, Mingione stressed his philosophies for player development that include being a good student and a well-rounded person.

“I believe that you have to win in all areas of your life,” Mingione stressed. He said the team will have a goal of a minimum 3.0 team GPA every year, and each player will be required to do community service.

He also stressed the importance of every player having a clear goal in mind. “I don’t care if the guy throws 95 with a good breaking ball. If he doesn’t want to play in the big leagues, I’m not so sure that he would fit in with our system,” Mingione said.

Mingione stressed that there will be a winning culture at Kentucky, saying, “We will mention Omaha daily.”
