NCAA TOURNAMENT | Anthony Davis' Former Coach Part of Loyola-Chicago Staff

03/21/2018 01:37 PM

The Loyola-Chicago men’s basketball team is one of this year’s “Cinderella” teams in the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 11-seeded Ramblers (30-5) have beaten both No. 6-seeded Miami (FL) and No. 3-seeded Tennessee en route to their appearance in this week’s Sweet 16 in Atlanta.

They will face No. 7-seeded Nevada on Thursday at approximately 7:07 p.m. ET inside Philips Arena.

One of the members of the team’s basketball staff has connections to former UK Wildcat Anthony Davis.

Jevon Mamon, Loyola-Chicago’s director of men’s basketball operations, coached Davis while Davis was in high school. Mamon was coach of the AAU Meanstreets program.

KSTV’s Bradley McKee spoke with Mamon after Loyola-Chicago’s practice on Wednesday in Atlanta:
