Meltdown In Columbia

03/02/2014 06:23 AM

The Cats suffered yet another disappointing loss — this time on the road at South Carolina, 72-67. Prior to tipoff, the Gamecocks were tied for last in the SEC — making this Kentucky’s worst loss of the season.

The highlight of the game came midway through the second half when UK Head Coach, John Calipari, was ejected after incurring two technical fouls. Assistant Coach, John Robic, took over to finish out the game and nearly pulled out a victory. Kentucky put together a late-game surge, but it just wasn’t enough to overcome a 16-point second-half deficit.

Kentucky shot a season-low (and Cal-era low) 26.9% from the field. Aaron Harrison finished with 21 points. Julius Randle finished with 15 rebounds. The loss drops the Cats to 11-5 in SEC play and 21-8 on the season. Kentucky will try to regroup on Senior Night against the Alabama Crimson Tide this Tuesday, March 4 at 9 p.m.
