LEXINGTON — Vince Marrow and Mark Stoops have taken over the state of Ohio in football recruiting the last two years, but their latest move in keeping up with the Joneses comes via the transfer route from the defending national champion.
Marcelys Jones, a sophomore offensive lineman at Ohio State University, announced on Saturday his decision to transfer to the University of Kentucky next season.
A four-star Army All-American coming out of high school, the 315-pound Jones strongly considered signing with UK as part of its 2014 class before ultimately committing to the Buckeyes.
But after playing in just two games during Ohio State’s national title run last season, Jones began looking elsewhere for more playing time and committed to transfer to Kentucky after an official visit to Lexington on Saturday.

The Cleveland native will have to sit out the 2015 season due to transfer rules, but with a redshirt year still available, Jones will still have three years of eligibility remaining when he competes for a starting position in 2016.
KSTV discussed the news of Jones’ transfer on Monday’s show, praising Stoops’ and Marrow’s continued progress in making UK a destination location for top Midwest talent.
