Malik Monk chasing Jamal Murray's scoring record

02/23/2017 08:00 PM

Malik Monk is closing in on the Kentucky freshman single-season scoring record set by Jamal Murray last year. Monk, who has been one of the best freshmen in the country this season, has scored 590 points through 28 games (21.1 PPG).

Murray set the record last season by scoring 720 points through 36 games. Through 28 games last year, Murray had 543 points, so Monk is way ahead of him at this point of the season.

Monk has three regular season games, the chance at three SEC tournament games (if they make the championship game), plus the NCAA tournament to break Murray’s record.

Will he get it done? We discuss.
