Landon Young Ready to Start at Left Tackle in 2017

With news breaking Monday that senior offensive tackle Cole Mosier’s Kentucky career was over with a torn ACL, sophomore Landon Young is expected to be the starter for week one when Kentucky takes on Southern Miss.

Young started three games last season as a true freshman. His first game action came against Florida, when he was thrown into the fire during the Gators’ 45-7 whooping of the Wildcats. The experience Young gained his freshman season have him ready to take the field as the starting left tackle in 2017.

“That experience on the field in my true freshman year is invaluable,” said Young. “It sort of prepares me more, gets that shell-shock out of my system so that I can go out there and really focus on just executing the offense.”

While this is an exciting opportunity for Young to gain experience and see the field more, he hates to see Cole Mosier’s Kentucky career come to an end this way.

“It’s really rough,” said Young. “Especially with him being such a big part of our offense. Cole has been here for five years and having somebody go down on your team is hard, but especially someone that took me under his wing and taught me everything he knows and sort of kept me as a little brother as we were competing for everything. That’s really hard to see.”
