The Kentucky Wildcats capped off a memorable regular season with a stunning 41 to 38 win over No. 11 Louisville to win the Governor’s Cup. Austin MacGinnis kicked the game winning field goal with 12 seconds left to give the Cats the win.

Kentucky snapped their five game losing streak to the Cardinals to finish the season 7-5, a feat that seemed nearly impossible after the team started off the season 0-2.

The Wildcats offense totaled 581 yards, led by Stephen Johnson’s best performance of the year. The junior had 338 passing yards and three touchdowns. Two of those touchdowns were deep balls to Garrett Johnson, who finished the game with 164 yards and the two scores.

Louisville’s offense totaled 561 yards of their own, but a costly fumble by Lamar Jackson with under a minute and a half, left while the game was tied at 38, gave Kentucky the chance to win the game. Jackson finished the game with 281 passing yards, 171 rushing yards, four touchdowns and four turnovers.

Kentucky (7-5) and Louisville (9-3) will both spend this week conditioning and preparing for their bowl game, which will likely be announced next weekend.
