Kentucky's defense looking for even stronger showing against Eastern Kentucky

Kentucky’s defense is hoping to build off of last week’s strong showing against Southern Miss as they get ready for EKU on Saturday.

UK’s defense forced Southern Miss to commit three turnovers, while holding them to 55 rushing yards on 38 carries. It was arguably the most complete defensive performance UK has had in quite some time. Defensive coordinator Matt House says it’s because his guys stuck to the basics.

“Guys doing their job. Guys straining. Guys playing with great leverage,” House said. “You heard it over and over in training camp, and it doesn’t change from week to week: Playing fundamentally sound football and having guys with hats to the ball with great leverage and pad level.”

TJ Beisner and Bradley McKee discuss the defense’s confidence and mindset heading into the Eastern Kentucky game.
