Kentucky hangs on to beat Missouri in Columbia

Bam Adebayo had a career night as Kentucky hung on to avoid a big upset and beat Missouri 72-62.
Adebayo was dominant down low, scoring 22 points and grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds, giving him his fourth double-double of the season.
Kentucky (23-5, 13-2) went into the half with a 31-30 lead over Missouri (7-20 2-13). Sloppy play hindered Kentucky from taking a bigger lead early on. The Tigers forced UK to commit nine first-half turnovers.
Kentucky opened up the second half by scoring six straight points and it looked like the Wildcats would pull away. That wasn’t the case. Missouri clawed and scratched to keep the score close until the 5:50 mark when Kentucky took an eight-point lead. That lead gave the Wildcats enough cushion to come away with a victory.
Kentucky finished the game with 17 turnovers and only 10 assists. The Wildcats shot 46% from the floor and dominated the battle of the boards 44-31.
Kentucky’s win keeps them on top of the SEC with the Florida Gators, who they welcome to Rupp Arena on Saturday. Tip is set for 2 pm. Florida beat Kentucky 88-66 earlier this season in Gainesville.
We will have more tomorrow on KSTV.
