LEXINGTON — The Kentucky Football team has finalized its 2016 football schedule by inking a deal with a former Wildcat.

UK Athletics confirmed on Tuesday afternoon that Kentucky will host New Mexico State in 2016, currently scheduled for September 17th. It will be the first meeting between the two schools in the football program’s history.

The Aggies are lead by former Kentucky quarterback Doug Martin, who took over NMSU’s head coaching duties before the 2013 season.

New Mexico State hails from the Sun Belt Conference and posted a 2-10 record in 2014.

Kentucky has now tentatively completed its non-conference schedule for the 2016 season.

The Wildcats are slated to kick off the year at home against Southern Miss on September 3, followed by another home game against Austin Peay on November 19, and a road trip to in-state rival Louisville on November 26 to finish the regular season.
