LEXINGTON — With just under two weeks left until the start of the 2015 season, a pair of Kentucky Football players have decided to transfer out of the program.
A UK Athletics spokeswoman confirmed this afternoon that redshirt freshman linebacker Dorian Hendrix and junior cornerback Jaleel Hytchye are both leaving the Kentucky football team.
Hendrix redshirted last season and had not yet played a live down for the Wildcats. He was listed as a second-string middle linebacker behind Josh Forrest in the spring but has been practicing with the third-team defense during fall camp, seemingly passed up on the depth chart by fellow redshirt freshman Nico Firios.
Hytchye saw his most action during his freshman year in 2013 where he recorded 9 tackles in eight games. He appeared in only one game as a sophomore last season, and appeared to have been surpassed by several incoming freshman during fall camp.
Hendrix and Hytchye are the third and fourth players to transfer out of the program this season, joining former linemen Josh Krock and Nick Richardson.
Adding to the story, just a few minutes after the transfer news broke, Kentucky defensive coordinator D.J. Eliot sent out this interesting tweet:
"Adversity causes some men to break; others to break records" – William Arthur Ward— DJ Eliot (@CoachEliot) August 24, 2015
KSTV discussed the transfer news on Monday’s show, explaining why there’s not need for Big Blue Nation to panic about the departures.
