The Cats simply could not stop Elston Turner. The senior guard for the Aggies scored 40 points, going 14 of 19 and perfect from the free throw line. When Turner checked out of the game, even Kentucky fans gave him a round of applause. Riding the amazing performance, Texas A&M topped Kentucky 83 to 71.

“One guy goes for 40 out of their 80,” head coach John Calipari said on Turner. “We did what we needed to to stay in the game with a guy going nuts, but we couldn’t stop the bleeding. The will to win is having discipline with four minutes to go.”

Kentucky put together a few good runs to challenge A&M. Nerlens Noel ended the game with a double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. The freshman center brought grit and energy on the floor, but it wasn’t enough for the Cats.

“We don’t have the discipline as a team yet because we are young,” Calipari said. “This is a young team trying to learn. We were lucky to win on the road. Every game we play in this league is going to be a hard game for us.”
