Kentucky Escapes Vanderbilt 60-58

The Wildcats sweated out the last 10 minutes of the game, as they saw their 16-point lead slip away, but Kentucky came away with a 60-58 victory.

Vanderbilt had an 18-0 run and took the lead in the middle of the second half. Kentucky went seven minutes, 55 seconds without scoring a single point. Ryan Harrow broke the slump with a three pointer, and Nerlens Noel seemed to avoid an obvious shot clock violation to extend Kentucky’s lead to five points with 18 seconds left in the game.

Vanderbilt’s Kedron Johnson hit a three to bring the Commodores within two. After a timeout in which Vanderbilt head coach Kevin Stallings told his team to forget about the missed shot clock violation call, the Commodores forced a turnover off the inbound. With eight seconds left, Johnson missed a three-point shot to give Kentucky their first SEC win of the season.
