Kentucky Escapes College Station With A Win

The story was pretty much the same for the UK basketball team which cruised in the first half against Texas A&M before letting the Aggies crawl back and force overtime. The Wildcats outscored A&M 10-6 in the extra period and escaped College Station with a 72-68 win.

Freshman center Nerlens Noel, who provided a scare when he landed awkwardly on his left leg and briefly left the game, paced the team with 19 points and 14 rebounds, while senior guard Julius Mays added 18. Texas A&M guard Elston Turner, who scored 40 points in the Aggies’ win at Rupp last month, scored 21 points on 7-23 shooting.

The Cats are now 15-6 (6-2) and have home dates with South Carolina and Auburn before heading to Gainesville February 12 to face the SEC’s top team, Florida.

Be sure to watch KSTV Monday as we recap UK’s win in College Station and look ahead to South Carolina.
