Kentucky destroys Asbury in final tuneup before the season starts

The Kentucky Wildcats had the most dominant performance in program history as they beat NAIA Asbury 156-63. 156 points is the most points scored ever by Kentucky in an exhibition or regular season game.

Kentucky shot 68.8% from the floor while their defense held the Eagles to only 22.7% shooting. The Wildcats scored 116 points in the paint and outrebounded Asbury 71-44.

All fourteen Wildcats scored tonight, including eight in double-figures. De’Aaron Fox led the way for the Wildcats, scoring 25 points and adding five rebounds. Other top performers included Malik Monk, who had 15 points and a couple of highlight-reel dunks (see below). Derek Willis had 14 points, Sacha Killeya-Jones had 13 points and Isaiah Briscoe had 11 points. The surprise of the night was senior Mychal Mulder, who had the only double-double on the night, scoring 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

Kentucky will have tomorrow off and then have two hard practices on Tuesday and Wednesday as the team prepares to open the season with three games in five days. Kentucky will kick off the season against Stephen F. Austin on Friday night at 7 pm.
