Kentucky beats Eastern Michigan, 24-20

Once again, Kentucky played an ugly contest with a team they were expected to dominate, but once again, the Cats walked away with a win. This time, it was a 24-20 victory over Eastern Michigan.

After the game, Mark Stoops said, “Well, the good news is that we got the victory”, before adding that he was never comfortable with how his team was playing. Stoops noted that he was pleased with his team’s ability to win games when they don’t play well, but they must get better.

And that starts with the offense, which had an all-around poor effort against the Eagles. Stephen Johnson was sacked five times and threw for two touchdowns, but the group wasn’t able to find any consistency. They finished the game with only 228 total yards and averaged just 1.4 yards per carry.

The Cats now take a day off before preparing for a home SEC matchup with Missouri next week.
