LEXINGTON — They’ve done it again.
Basketball recruiting director Evan Daniels posted on Scout.com today that the Kentucky men’s basketball team has officially taken over the No. 1 spot in the 2015 class rankings.
The Wildcats jumped over Duke to claim the top class for the sixth time in seven seasons. UK has never finished worse than second under head coach John Calipari.
California, Arizona, and SEC foe LSU round out the top five.
The player who put the Cats back on top was Australian star Isaac Humphries. The four-star center from Down Under signed with Kentucky last week while also reclassifying from the 2016 class to 2015.
With his commitment, Humphries became the fifth player from Scout.com’s top-100 rankings to pick Kentucky, joining the No. 1 player in the class, Skal Labissiere, No. 12 Jamal Murray, No. 13 Isaiah Briscoe, and No. 80 Charles Matthews.
Junior College All-American Mychal Mulder will also be transferring to UK this season, and current 2016 commitment, Tai Wynyard, is likely to join the team early and could be ready to play this January.
KSTV discussed the No. 1 class on Monday’s show, picking which of the new players we’re most excited to see on the court this season.
