Kentucky baseball’s 2017 recruiting class finished ranked ninth in the country by Baseball America, it was announced on Tuesay. This is the second-highest ranking for the program by Baseball America.

Last season was one of the most successful seasons in Kentucky baseball history. Under first year head coach Nick Mingione, the Wildcats made it to their first-ever Super Regional. This is Mingione’s first full recruiting class.

“This is a banner class for our program moving forward and very much needed after we had eight total draft picks and a program record six Top 10-round draft picks selected in the 2017 MLB Draft,” Mingione said. “The 2017 class has a very strong foundation that sets us up for future success.”

Kentucky signed 16 high school prospects and nine junior college players. All of the high school players were All-Americans and highly ranked in their home states. Eight of the nine junior college players were ranked in the Top 150 JuCo players nationally.

Kentucky’s 2018 season opens up on February 16 against Wofford.
