When the UK basketball team takes the court for the 2014-15 season, the Cats could easily boast the best front-court in the nation.

Willie Cauley-Stein, a near lock to be a lottery pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft, opted to return to school. His fellow center, Dakari Johnson, tore apart big men in the NCAA Tournament, but he too will be a Cat for at least one more season. Among the other returnees, Alex Poythress may embrace a bigger role and Marcus Lee exploded on the biggest stage when called upon.

Now, we get to the newcomers. Karl Towns and Trey Lyles were both five-star, top 15 high school prospects, and they will quickly join the fight for playing time on the block.

We recognize the talent, and the Sporting News did as well. Mike DeCourcy ranked Towns as the nation’s second best power forward. And on his list of the 10 top centers, Dakari and Willie were 6th and 7th respectively.
