Looks like Karl-Anthony Towns could become a pro sooner than we expected.

The 7-0 big man — who is expected to be the No. 1 overall selection in the NBA Draft next month — was picked 6th overall in the Dominican Republic during the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto (National Basketball League) draft.

The top three picks in the DR draft, in case you were wondering, were #1 Kelly Beidler, who played his college basketball at Mount St Mary’s. #2 John Horford, a Michigan grad and brother of former Florida Gator Al Horford. #3 was Emmy Andujar who played in Manhattan.

Leones de Santo Domingo selected Towns and will retain his rights should he ever decide to join the DR league.

After learning the news, Towns tweeted out, “este es nuestro año!!!”, which translates to “this is our year!!!”

Maybe Karl can just send “Karlito” in his place …
