Kansas State Ready To Face Kentucky

The Kentucky Wildcats will travel to St. Louis this week to face the Kansas State Wildcats for the opportunity to likely face undefeated Wichita State in the Round of 32 on Sunday.
Kansas State, which finished the regular season with a 20-12 record and in fifth place in the Big 12, looks forward to the opportunity to take on one of college basketball’s blue blood programs.
“My face just lit up,” senior forward Shane Southwell said of finding out that they’d face Kentucky. “I love playing against great teams and great players. When you are a high school player, you think about certain programs. You think about Kentucky, Duke and Kansas, honestly and it would be a great opportunity to beat a team of that nature.”
Head coach Bruce Weber, in his second season in Manhattan, knows that any conversation or preparation for UK begins with one thing – talent. “They have some talent, there is no doubt about it,” Weber said after the draw was announced. “We are going to have to play. But it does not matter who you play, you have to play good basketball.”
Weber hasn’t gotten too deep into the scouting or preparation for the Cats, but he has an idea already about how you slow John Calipari’s young team down. “Julius Randle is a monster down there in the paint,” Weber told reporters. “We are going to have our hands full with all three of them (Randle and Harrison twins) but I think we can get the job done.”
Stay tuned to KSTV all week as we get you set for the matchup between the two Wildcat teams and broadcast from St. Louis as the Cats begin their quest for a Final Four in Dallas.
