Julius Randle named Third Team All-American

UK freshman forward Julius Randle was named Third Team All-America by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Wednesday, making him one of three freshmen to earn the honors this year.
During the regular season, Randle averaged 15.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game and has raised his averages to 16 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in UK’s two NCAA Tournament wins.
Randle joins John Wall (2010), DeMarcus Cousins (2010), Anthony Davis (2012) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist (2012) as the fifth UK freshman to earn the award in the past five seasons. Randle has also been selected as the SEC Freshman of the Year, SEC Newcomer of the Year, All-SEC First Team and the SEC All-Tournament Team.
