The Bright Beginnings center currently serves an average of 162 children a day in the nation’s capital, and with Wall’s generous gift, hopes to open a second facility to help up to another 100 children in need.
Bright Beginnings executive director Dr. Betty Jo Gaines thanked the Wizards’ point guard for his donation on the organization’s Facebook page:
- “Support from individuals like Mr. Wall, gives Bright Beginnings the encouragement to continue to provide comprehensive services for homeless children in the District of Columbia. It is evident that John Wall is sensitive and concerned about the plight of homeless children in DC and he wants theses children to succeed.”
The charity began in 1991 to provide childcare and safe learning environments for children living in homeless shelters.
