Joe B. Hall reminisces on 1975 national championship game

Tomorrow’s matchup between Kentucky and UCLA will mark the third time the two bluebloods have met in the NCAA tournament. The last time they played in the postseason was in 1998, when Kentucky won 94-68 en route to their seventh national championship.

But the meeting prior to that is the one that Kentucky fans will always remember—even though they wish they didn’t. It was the 1975 national championship game, and UCLA beat Kentucky 92-85 in John Wooden’s last game. Joe B. Hall was Kentucky’s coach at the time and I sat down with Hall this afternoon to take a closer look at the loss.
