James Young picked 17th by the Boston Celtics

James Young’s wait was longer than he wished, but he’ll be playing with one of the NBA’s premier franchises after being selected by the Boston Celtics.

The 6-foot-7 lefty will join another former Cat in point guard Rajon Rondo, and may have a tough battle ahead for early playing time in Bean Town.

If he does see heavy game action, it will likely be at small forward because the Celtics used their 8th pick on Oklahoma State combo guard, Marcus Smart.

If Rondo and Smart are presumed to be the point and shooting guards of the future, Young will have to outplay Gerald Wallace and Jeff Green on the wing. Regardless, the addition of the former Cat will give the Celtics an increased outside presence from players in the back court.
